Hep Initiative Zambia is a non-profit organization committed to reducing the prevalence and impact of hepatitis in Zambia. We work collaboratively with local communities, healthcare providers, and government agencies to implement effective strategies for prevention, treatment, and advocacy.
Our Objectives
Awareness and Education:
We strive to increase understanding about hepatitis among the general public and healthcare professionals through campaigns, workshops, and educational materials.
Testing and Diagnosis
We facilitate access to testing and diagnosis services to ensure early detection and prompt treatment for those affected by hepatitis.
Treatment and Support
We advocate for improved access to affordable treatment options and provide support services to individuals living with hepatitis.
Policy and Advocacy
We engage with policymakers to influence health policies and programs that address hepatitis prevention, care, and support.
Harm reduction include needle exchange programs, outreach and education on safer injection practices, distribution of sterile injecting equipment, and access to opioid substitution therapy to reduce transmission risks and promote safer behaviors.

Mwape Chisonde, CEO of Hep Initiative, recently participated in an influential event organized by the World Hepatitis Alliance, co-sponsored by the World Health Organization, and supported by the Ministry of Health of Portugal. This hybrid event welcomed nearly 700 delegates from 95 countries, fostering global collaboration and knowledge exchange in the fight against hepatitis. Engaging with international experts and sharing our experiences from Zambia was an invaluable opportunity to advance our collective efforts toward eliminating hepatitis worldwide.
